The destination

Why Zanzibar

Zanzibar is where programmes end. After the plains or the plenary hall, the island offers the decompression that makes people feel genuinely rewarded. Stone Town's UNESCO-listed lanes, the spice farms, the sandbank lunches and the dhow sunsets give a cultural spine to what could otherwise be a beach stop. For gala dinners the beach itself is the venue: long tables in the sand, fire, and a taarab band. Resort inventory on the east and north coasts is deep enough that groups of 150 or more can take a property on exclusive use — which changes the feel of an incentive entirely.
